Vocabulary trees are graphic tools that develop as students read. It focuses on linking groups of related words or ideas and allows plenty of flexibility in the numbering and placement of branches. Vocabulary trees allow students to create connections to what they are learning and double as a study guide as well. This strategy would work great in the art room when introducing new material such as vocabulary, strategies, forms, or techniques. It would also be beneficial when working with the different art periods and the many artists that fall into those periods.
